A sheet of elastomeric material made of natural rubber that is perforated and placed over the teeth during dental procedures.
It can have a variety of functions such as:
- to isolate the operative site from the rest of the oral cavity;
- to eliminate saliva;
- to prevent the patient from swallowing liquid/dental material;
- to protect soft tissue from harmful solutions;
- to reduce risk of infection.
